The Beginning

The idea behind My Forward Life was a simple one. Was there a different way that successful, ambitious, but fun women could connect? The answer was a resounding yes.

On June 26, 2012, Dallas entrepreneur Jasmin Brand invited 20 women to experience the first ever FORWARD event. She had one goal in mind. Personally invite some of Dallas’ brightest and most fun women for an intimate happy hour with a twist. Instead of just meeting for cocktails and the normal business card exchange, the connections made at FORWARD would be based on authentically meeting other like minded women who shared a passion for learning new things. There would be no name tags or icebreakers. Instead, women would get to know each other through their similarities. All of the women in attendance at this first event received an invitation by mail because they shared common interests, ambition or drive. Jasmin felt that these shared interests would serve as the basis for the networking. During this event, each woman received a card that featured the work of a female artist and they would be divided into smaller groups based on the artist they received and their shared interests with the other ladies.

The event also featured a tour of then unopened Museum Tower followed by networking. After the event, Jasmin immediately received emails asking when the next event was and from there a new idea became reality.

In January of 2013, close to 70 women attended “I HEART DALLAS”, the third FORWARD event. It was at this time that Jasmin realized that there were many more women that were also looking for a different kind of networking so she decided to open up the events for the first time to any woman who wanted to attend in the spring of that same year at the very first My Forward Life event, How to Be Memorable In Your Personal and Professional Life.
