TITLE: Talent Development Consultant

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER: I have over 10 years of experience in developing and coaching talent in the corporate realm. After obtaining my Masters degree in Counseling Education, where I focused on adult therapy and career, I was fortunate to join a company where the senior leaders focused on raw talent, not just what’s resume. From there, I learned the importance of recruiting top talent and what it takes to keep them engaged and what type of training they need to find career success. I realized that being an employee advocate came naturally and why the talent development arena is a solid fit for me.

FAMILY: I have a wonderful husband, who recently started his strategy/management consulting company. He’s the best person to travel with since he’s very laid-back and can figure out the layout of any city within minutes of arriving (locals have even stopped him for directions). He’s also probably the best career/life coach that I know; he gives great advice and being from New York, you always get a straight-forward answer.

WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT: My own personal journey of finding my career and place in the world is actually what helped discover my passion of helping people find what makes them happy. I initially struggled to find my place in my career but through intentional movements, I’ve been able to recognize my ability to connect with others is my greatest asset. I want others to know that I am a resource to assist them in finding their place. I love to read and am constantly picking up tidbits and more so, I love to share these random nuggets of information in hopes that it’ll make someone else’s life better. Collaboration and human connection are the foundation to any happy life and I enjoy getting to know individuals and what drive them to success and happiness. I say I’m a collector of people’s stories because it’s amazing how much you can learn from just taking a moment to listen.

YOUR ROLE AT THE CLARITY RETREAT: During my session, we’ll be discussing the importance of first, understanding what you want and second, the importance of effectively communication those needs. Once you understand what you need to succeed, I’ll be sharing ways to communicate your needs with key stakeholders.

WHY IS CLARITY IMPORTANT FOR WOMEN: As women, we naturally put others before ourselves and that includes our role in communication. Most of us are naturally collaborative, we want to reach a consensus, we are quick to compromise. However, many times, the compromise comes at our expense. Also, many of the conversations that go awry are because they lacked clarity. We say things that don’t come out clearly or are misunderstood. It’s important to recognize how effective communication can be a game changer in your career if you stop, think, consider and proceed slowly and with efficiency.
