Urban Taco, started in 2007 by Markus Pineyro, was inspired by the founder's home of Mexico City and its street food culture and the coastal cuisine of Acapulco. The first location opened in Dallas’ Mockingbird Station with an eclectic menu of unique tacos, tortas and other taqueria offerings.
Following the success of his first restaurant, Pineyro expanded Urban Taco to Dallas’ Uptown neighborhood in a location that allowed for a large patio overlooking McKinney Avenue and a more expansive modern Mexican cuisine menu that includes additional appetizers like ceviche and four variations of guacamole, additional entrees and more.
Urban Taco features the traditional foods and distinctive flavors of Mexican taquerias by delivering a well-traveled menu of dishes that emulate the street foods and laid back eateries of native Mexico. Urban Taco strives to showcase the diversity of Mexican ingredients by elevating classic cuisine in a contemporary, yet authentic way. At the heart of the Urban Taco menu is the dedication to serving fresh ingredients with everything made from scratch - from salsas and sauces to marinades spices and rubs. The restaurants offer a large selection of boutique tequilas from Mexico, Mexican beers, and an assortment of tasty sangrias.
